With the 2020/21 season behind us, we’re putting the spotlight on the best FCA players in various categories. In part five of our Season in Numbers series: Fastest sprinters, with a top five made up exclusively of defenders.

Mads Pedersen was the fastest FCA player of the season with a top speed of 34.63 km/h, recorded in the 2-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. Pedersen takes first place in the speed category after his return from Zurich.

With a top speed of 34.50 km/h, Iago was the second fastest sprinter at FCA last season. Iago set the pace with his fastest sprint as early as Matchday 1 against Union Berlin, a 3-1 win where the Brazilian also provided an assist.

FCA academy product Raphael Framberger comes in at third with a top speed of 34.48 km/h. Like Pedersen, Framberger’s top speed was clocked against Frankfurt, albeit in the reverse fixture at the WWK ARENA.

Robert Gumny joined FC Augsburg from Lech Poznan last summer and has impressed with his pace since then. The 22-year-old recorded his highest speed in the 2-1 defeat to Stuttgart and was clocked at 33.47 km/h, putting him fourth in our top five.
